The dictionary defines success as the gaining of fame or prosperity. BUT that is not the only definition. Nor is it the first definition. No, the primary definition for success as defined in the dictionary is: “the achievement of something desired, planned or attempted.”
Read that again: the achievement of something desired, planned or attempted.
So to be successful, you simply need to achieve something you desire. Or plan. Or attempt. That’s all. Just achieve something you want. And you are a success.
To a teacher, success may mean helping a struggling student pass a test.
To an athlete, success may mean running a mile two seconds faster than the day before.
To a doctor, success may mean diagnosing and treating the source of a patient’s pain.
To a parent, success may mean watching a child treat his friend with kindness.
To an investor, success may mean earning an 11% return on his investment.
To you, success may mean…what?
How do you define success? Are you programmed to define success by the gaining of fame or prosperity? Do you only measure success by the kind of car you drive? The size of your house? The dollar amount in your checking account?
Or do you subscribe to the broader definition of success? Do you measure success by your career? Your relationships? Your goals?
Once you figure out how you define success for you, you must ask yourself this question: are you living the definition of your success?
If so, congratulations. You are to be commended for developing and applying the foundation for success: the right mindset. Now what can you do to achieve a higher level of success—as defined by you?
But if you aren’t living the definition of your success, the only thing keeping you from achieving your goals is developing the proper mindset. You can develop this mindset through the application of Seven Powerful Strategies:
1. Greet each day by recognizing the power within you.
2. Become the observer of your life.
3. Learn to love who you are.
4. Know that your thoughts, words and feelings are creating your reality each moment of your life.
5. Learn how to focus.
6. Take responsibility for your life.
7. Practice gratitude and appreciation on a daily basis.
You can achieve anything you desire, attempt or plan by following these 7 strategies. In other words, you can achieve success.
